Why did I decide on this topic?
I love love love love the Victorian era, and writing as well. So why not combine my favorite topics?
I decided to focus my research on Victorian era writers because this period
saw huge changes in society, which were often reflected in the literature. Writers like Dickens,
the Bronte sisters, and Oscar Wilde tackled big issues like class divisions, gender roles, and
even the rise of industrialization. I'm also interested in how the eras strict social norms led to hidden
subtexts, especially around topics like sexuality and personal freedom. Studying these authors not only
gives me a glimpse into their world, but it also helps me understand how their work still influences modern literature today.
